Civil Engineering came into existence in 18th century in France.An Englishman, John Smeaton was the first proclaimed civil engineeer in 1761. First Degree Programme in civil engineering was started by 'State College(UK)' in 1886. John Wesley Gunn of  Lexington got the first civil engineering degree from the A & M College in 1890.
