Launching Girder

Launching Girder is a machine used in the erection of segmental bridges forming a Viaduct according to the Cantilever method .The superstructure of the future viaduct is made of  pre-cast segments which are lifted, handled in place and levelled according to the viaduct design specifications by means of the erection gantry herein called LAUNCHING GIRDER L20. The main components of  launching girder are as follows:-

1. Front Leg
2. Middle Support
3. Rear Support
4. Rear Trolley

World's Highest Rail Bridge

CHENAB BRIDGE
The Chenab Bridge over the river chenab in Jammu & Kashmir state of India will be the world's highest rail bridge ever made(under construction). It is a type of arch bridge. It spans the Chenab River between Bakkal and Kauri, in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. When completed, the bridge will be 1,263 m (4,144 ft) long, with a 480 m (1,570 ft) trussed arch span 359 m (1,178 ft) above the river Chenab and a 650 m (2,130 ft) long viaduct on the Kauri side.

The Chenab Bridge consists of a number of subbridges and tunnels which makes up the Katra-Laole Section of the USBRL Project in Jammu and Kashmir. Another, smaller, arch bridge in the link will be the 657 m (2,156 ft) long, 189 m (620 ft) high Anji Khad bridge between Katra and Reasi. The stability of such a bridge is a daunting task for Indian Government.

Civil Engineering

Now the era has come when civil engineering, the oldest engineering branch of world(especially in India) had been grown to its fully exposure.I'm being a student of 3rd year civil engineering  when opted to civil engineering was in the severe fever that if I selected a wrong stream for my carrier. But now these days I'm very much satisfied regarding my decision.Today many students are opting this field as their carrier.I study in a college named R.I.T.M. College. It was the first college in that zone who got certification from A.I.C.T.E to run civil engineering as their newest stream and excel college's future. Now almost all the colleges have got certification to run civil engineering.

FOUNDATION

Foundation :-Foundation is the lowest part of a structure which provides a base for the super-structure(building).In other words,it is the artificial arrangement to transmit the loads of the structure like piles, raft, grillage, etc. to the soil below.

Types Of  Foundations :- Basically there are two types of foundations as under:-
  •  Shallow Foundation
  •  Deep Foundation
                                                               Shallow Foundation
When the foundation is placed immediately beneath the lowest part of the super structure,it is termed as shallow foundation. The object of this type of foundation is to distribute the structural loads over a wide horizontal area at shallow depth below the ground level.

 Deep Foundation

When the strata of good bearing capacity is not available near the ground, the foundation of the structure has to be taken deep with the purpose of attaining a bearing capacity of soil which is suitable in all respects.

TYPES OF BEAMS & TYPES OF LOADINGS

Beam:-A structural member which is acted upon by a system of external loads at right angles to its axis is known as beam.

    BEAM

LOADING:-It is a type of weight put on the beam which causes the beam to deflect or bend in shape.

    LOADING

TYPES OF BEAMS:-There are five types of beams as under:-

1.Cantilever Beam:-A cantilever beam is one whose one end is fixed and the other end carries a point or concentrated load.

                                  2. Simply Supported Beam:-A simply supported beam is one which carries two reaction forces at its two ends & a point load at its mid-point.

3.Overhanging Beam:-It is a type of simply supported beam which overhangs from its supports. An overhanging beam may overhang on one side only or on both sides of the supports.

                                   4. Rigidly Fixed Or Built-In-Beam:-It is a type of beam in which both ends are fixed and carries a point load at its centre.

                                 5. Continuous Beam:-It is a type of overhanging beam which consists of a numerous reaction forces and point loads.

TYPES OF LOADINGS:-A beam may be subjected to either or in combination of the following types of loads:-

1.Concentrated Or Point Load:-It is a type of load which acts at the centre of the beam as shown below:-

                                      2. Uniformly Distributed Load:-It is a type of load which is distributed uniformly over the entire length of the beam.

                                          3. Uniformly Varying Load:-These are the loads varying uniformly from zero to a particular value and spread over a certain length of the beam.Such load is also called triangular load.

    ENGLISH BOND & FLEMISH BOND

                                                         ENGLISH BOND

This bond consists of alternate course of headers & stretches. In this arrangement, vertical joints in the header courses come over each other & the vertical joints in the stretcher course are also in the same line.

                                                          FLEMISH BOND

In this arrangement of bonding brick work, each course consists of alternate headers & stretchers. The alternate headers of each course are centered over the stretchers in the course.Every alternate course starts with a header at the corner.
